There are many developments advertising in magazines and on the web. In all the ads and web sites, they look great and sound great. But how do you know which ones are for real and which are only pretenders and wannabees? Ask, ask, ask, ask, ask the person on the other end of the phone.
Believe it or not, many of the photos you see on web sites and ads are stock images that have no relationship to the property being sold. That’s right, developers are notorious for using paid models, computer enhanced images and photos they’ve bought on line to enhance the appeal of their property. How disappointing would it be for you to travel hours to get up to the mountains, brochure in hand, only to find that the roads aren’t paved, there aren’t any property owners frolicking in the fields, or kids canoeing on the lake, or there are no houses, etc. Or how about this, you see beautiful photos of a golf course, but get to the property and its not there? Sadly, it happens all the time.
I’ll never forget seeing three different developments here in the High Country advertising in the same issue of a prominent real estate magazine using the exact same view photo; a photo that was taken from Grandfather Mountain which had no reltationship to any of the three developments. In fact, one such development still uses that photo but doesn’t have anything remotely like the view in the ad. Is that deceptive? I think it is. That’s why you see in all the ads for The Headwaters, a footnote that says, “All photos taken at The Headwaters.” This way, you’ll know that what you see in the ads is what you’ll see when you arrive. However, it gets better. When you get here, you’ll see so much more and get to feel the cool mountain air, hear the rush of our waterfalls, take in the aroma of the wildflowers, and even enjoy the 5.1 surround sound in our 14 seat theater at the clubhouse! I hear it all the time, “It really is better in person.”
