Headwaters featured on SouthernWayofLife.com!

lakeside_shelter_reflection Recently, we visited a property located in Banner Elk, North Carolina known as the High Country of the state.  Western North Carolina really is defined in three quadrants.  High Country where Boone, Blowing Rock and Banner Elk are located, western Western North Carolina where Sylva, Waynesville, Highlands and Cashiers are located and there is the Asheville, Black Mountain, Hendersonville and Lake Lure area.  All beautiful areas, elevational changes are what differentiate each of these among other characteristics.  Obviously, the High Country has the higher elevations compared to other areas of Western North Carolina.
While traveling from Asheville to the High Country which takes about 1 hour and a half, you can feel your ascent to Boone, Blowing Rock and Banner Elk, which is a neat feeling as you know you already started off around 2,500 feet above sea level to begin with coming from Asheville.  The drive is sure one to enjoy.  Hwy 181 which we took on the way back that lead into Morganton was one of the most scenic drives we had while in Western North Carolina on a road that was smooth as silk.
Boone, Blowing Rock and Banner Elk, the triangle cities in the High Country are all quaint, one of a kind towns with great shopping, excellent restaurants - some of which would rival what you will find in downtown Chicago, Atlanta and New York.  In addition, you have Lees McRae College and Appalachian State University offering an array of sporting and cultural events.  There is rock climbing, equestrian facilities, white water rafting, fly fishing, sailing, boating, canoeing and kayaking all available here as well as golf. Snow skiing and tubing in the winter are both a great pastime for the High Country as well.

BANNER ELK, NC:  The Headwaters at Banner Elk is pleased to announce that it has been selected to be one of only eight primary sponsors for the Ninth Annual North Carolina Wine Festival to be held Saturday, May 30, 2009 at Tanglewood Park outside Winston-Salem, NC.  The Wine Festival (www.ncwinefestival.com) is the largest such gathering in North Carolina and in recent years has attracted more than 20,000 people from all across the nation.

Located at Tanglewood Park just outside Winston-Salem, North Carolina, this event features 34 North Carolina based wineries along with complimenting vendors for a day of wine tasting, food and music.  Included in the day long event are several musical groups headlined by The Chairmen of the Board, one of the most recognized Beach Music bands in the south.  Patrons are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets to enjoy the  music, visit the various wineries which will be offering free samplings and learn more about the rapidly growing wine industry here in North Carolina.

Headwaters developer John Haynes says, “We are pleased to have been offered the chance to become one of only a handful of select sponsors for this event.  To be associated with such a successful and well planned venue is a great compliment for us.  Being the only real estate development allowed to participate, and located just two hours away, we felt this was an event at which The Headwaters needs to be represented.”  Other high end sponsors include WSJS, WZTK, Woodard & Company Asset Management and Lamborghini Carolinas.

The Headwaters at Banner Elk is a master planned 915 acre mountain development located ten minutes outside the resort town of Banner Elk.  It features six large community parks including two stocked lakes, staffed gate house and a mountaintop clubhouse with game room, fitness center and 14 seat state-of-the-art theater.  Real estate offerings include one to four acre homesites from the $150’s; cottage homes from the low $300’s; condominiums from the upper $400’s and custom homes from the upper $800’s.  Since opening in early 2006, The Headwaters has been the top selling master planned development in Avery County.  Call 866-200-3290 or visit www.headwatersnc.com for more information.
